Obituary of Dennis Evans

Dennis Truman Evans, 78, passed away on April 23, 2024 in Waukegan, Illinois.

Dennis was born on August 13, 1945 in Waukegan, Illinois the son of Dallas and Dorothy (Day) Evans. Dennis graduated from Zion Benton High School. He married his loving wife Trudy L. Wagner on November 27, 1971. He retired from Johnson Motors  after working there for over 20 years.

Dennis had a caring heart, volunteered for several years serving a local food pantry and volunteered driving friends and people in need to doctor appointments. Even though he was disabled with constant back pain aggravated by polio as a child, he would volunteer to mow yards for those in greater need and help anyone in need. Dennis enjoyed visiting the old Dunkin Donuts and even made deliveries for them when asked. Dennis loved visiting his brother and sisters and enjoyed playing jokes on them, even throughout his adult life. Although he had many nieces and nephews he tried to treat each one special. Dennis's signature traits were to enjoy life, to be of service to others, and to include humor throughout. Dennis was known for playing Santa Claus at the Lakehurst mall and privately for a total of 15 years to spread Christmas cheer.

Dennis is survived by his son Troy Evans; sister Etta Proeber, Susan Evans; brother-in-law Harry (Karen) Wagner; sister-in-law, Marlene Evans; nieces, nephews, cousins; and in-laws in Philadelphia.

He is preceded in death by his son, Kevin Evans; wife, Trudy Evans; parents, Dallas, and Dorothy Evans; sisters, Virginia Cook, Betty Chrismas, Dorothy Hanlon, Phyllis Nelson, Janet Hodler, Janice Saylor; brothers, Dallas Evans Jr., Clifford Evans, Donnie Evans, and Terrance Evans.
