William Howard Lewis, 72, of Winthrop Harbor, IL formerly of Monroe, WI and Waukegan, IL passed away on August 16, 2026 in Waukegan, IL.
William was born on March 24, 1954 in Monroe, WI the son of John and Mable (Siedschlag) Lewis. He graduated from Monroe High School and attended Gateway Technical College in Kenosha where he received an Associate's degree in horticulture. He married Karene Dumesic on May 20, 1994 in Waukegan, IL. He worked at Abbott Labs and Abbvie in North Chicago, IL for forty-five years before retiring in 2022. After retiring, he worked at Anton's Greenhouse in Pleasant Prairie, WI during the summer. He was a member of the Zion Alano club. William loved going up north, fishing, and boating. He loved his pets, gardening, drawing and painting. He loved spending time with his family, grandkids, and close friends from Abbott and the Alano Club.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Karene M. Lewis; children, Corina Poltrock, Karlie (Mitchell) Rowan, Benjamin Lewis, and Danny Lewis; grandchildren, Paul Stuht, Joe Stuht, Kristine Poltrock, Maci Poltrock; siblings, Robert (Cindy) Lewis, Cathy (Clint) Hartwig, Richard Lewis; brother-in-laws Keith S. Dumesic, Keven (Betty) Dumesic; special nephew Tony Lewis; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law Chalrei Kehl-Lipske and father-in-law Keith R. Dumesic.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
