Troy Evans

October 3, 1975 — September 3, 2026

Troy David Evans, 50, of Zion, Illinois passed away September 3, 2026. He was born October 3, 1975 to Trudy and Dennis Evans in Waukegan, Illinois.

For 32 years, Troy was a familiar face at the Zion Jewel. He didn’t just work there—he truly loved his job, the people he worked with, and most of all, the community he was such a big part of. If you knew Troy, you know he had a way of making people laugh, telling a story, and leaving an impression. He was simply Troy. And he will never be forgotten.

So many of you have reached out asking if there was a way to make a donation in Troy’s memory. We thought long and hard about what would mean the most to him. Troy absolutely loved animals, but tigers held a special place in his heart. He talked about them often and had said many times that if anything ever happened to him, he would want his money to go to a tiger rescue or sanctuary. It was something he genuinely cared about. Because of that, we feel the National Tiger Sanctuary is the perfect way to honor Troy and keep a little piece of his heart alive. For anyone who would like to make a donation in Troy’s memory, you can donate directly to the National Tiger Sanctuary through their PayPal Giving Fund: https://www.paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/2007104

Thank you. Truly. Thank you for every message, every story, every memory, every kind word, and every hug. Seeing just how many lives Troy touched has been both heartbreaking and comforting at the same time. He would be absolutely blown away by all of this love. And knowing Troy, after hearing all the wonderful things everyone has said about him, he would probably have to make a joke about it all.

We love you, Troy. Rest peacefully, cousin. You were one of a kind, and you will be missed more than you will ever know.

There really are no words to express how grateful our family is for the incredible outpouring of love, support, memories, and stories about my cousin, Troy Evans.

Troy is survived by his aunt, Karen Wagner; uncle, Harry Wagner; cousin, Kristin Wagner; aunt, Sue Evans; and many of the Evans cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Trudy L. Evans; father, Dennis T. Evans; brother, Kevin Brent Evans; and grandparents, Harry and Ruth Wagner.
