Susan Weeks, 87, passed away on December 18, 2025 at Allure Assisted Living in Zion, Illinois with her daughter by her side.
Susan was born on September 30, 1938 in Charleston, Missouri to Earl and Bethel (Russell) Hurley, then attending schools in Bertrand, Missouri and Chicago, Illinois. She married Bobby Gene Weeks in Alabama on September 10, 1960 before moving back to Sikeston, Missouri. In 1964 they relocated their family to Lake County, Illinois, eventually settling in Winthrop Harbor where they became members of the First Baptist Church.
Susan managed the Golden Days group home for veterans in Zion for several years before becoming a Fotomat kiosk lady, later retiring from the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. She enjoyed playing Rummikub, Dominos and Bingo with friends at Barton House and Allure and playing card games with remote friends she met on her computer. She also enjoyed reading and listening to country, gospel and blue grass music. But her greatest love of all was spending time with her family and her devoted Cocker Spaniel, Dudley.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Janet Weeks (Hussey), twin granddaughters, Sarah and Angela Weeks, and great grandsons, Jay David Rasmussen and Ryder Carson Rasmussen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene, her son, David, son-in-law Michael Hussey, and her parents.
The family would like to thank the staff at Allure Assisted Living and the Vitas Hospice team for their kind, compassionate, and loving care during her illness.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 with further details to follow.
Susan requested that the family disperse donations to Autism Speaks to honor her great grandson, Ryder.
