Steven Smith

Steven M. Smith, 49, died on Sunday, June 16, 2013, at his home in Zion, IL. He was born April 19, 1964, at Great Lakes, IL, and was a graduate of Zion-Benton High School. Steve had been a diabetic since he was a teenager. As his health declined with complications due to diabetes, with the help of friends to drive and haul equipment, he was still able to play guitar with a local band. He enjoyed music and the company of friends. Steve is survived by his mother, Pamela Smith of Zion, IL; brother, David Smith; nephew, Dylan and niece Delaney of Pleasant Prairie, WI; aunt, Diane Pare; and cousin, Chris Pare. He was preceded in death his maternal grandparents, Egan and Helen Oquist; and uncle, Roger Oquist. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL.
