Shirley Tate

Shirley Tate , 88, of Gurnee, IL and formerly of Zion, IL passed away on August 8, 2025.

Shirley was born on June 28, 1937 in Red Bay, AL the daughter of John Isaac and Fronie Velma (Odems) Holland. Shirley attended First Baptist Church in Winthrop Harbor, IL. She retired from A.L. Hansen manufacturing.

She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Ronald) Harlow; daughter-in-law, Gail Tate; grandchildren, Lisa (Lee) Evans, Mark Harlow, Adam (Sharon) Tate, Andrew (Melissa) Tate, Ryan (Deanna) Tate; sister, May Baggett, of Red Bay, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.

Shirley was preceded in death by her sons, Ronald Tate, and Rodney Tate; husband, William "Bud" Tate; mother, Fronie Velma Mauldin; father, John Isaac Holland; sisters, Viola Holland, Elsie Floyd, Nellie Hall, and Avadean Petree; brothers, JC Holland, FV Holland, and Charles Mauldin.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at, Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL 60099. Interment will be at Dennis Memorial Garden in Dennis, MS.
