Sarai Fox

Sarai E. Fox, born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 25, 1960, was the cherished daughter of the late Rev. Samuel C. Hudson Jr. and Roberta L. Butler (Lucus). She passed away at home on May 12, 2025.

Sarai will be remembered for her gentle kindness, boundless generosity, caring heart and radiant, bubbly personality. Her warmth and humor touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving behind cherished memories filled with love and laughter.

She was the beloved wife of Reginald Fox, sharing 42 wonderful years of marriage. Sarai was a devoted mother of four daughters—Sherwina Adams (Kariem Sr.), Sophia Degreffenreid, Regina Baker (Anthony Sr.), and Che’Kara Fox-Smith (Justin Sr.)—and one stepson, James Freeman.

Sarai’s love extended across generations, and she leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Kalah, Kariem Jr., Donnae, Destiny, Dejah, Reiana, Anthony II, Justin Jr., Jaeda, Justice, and Jordon, along with seven great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit and love.

She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel C. Hudson; stepfather, Joseph Butler Sr.; mother, Roberta Butler; and her first-born grandson, Kenneth Darnell Grays Jr.

Sarai’s legacy is one of unwavering love, compassion, and joy. She will forever be missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she graced.

Visitation will be held  Wednesday May 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Waukegan Baptist Bible Church 1500 Sunset Avenue Waukegan Illinois, 60087.
