Sandy Farmen

Sandy Farmen (nee Smith), 58, of Waukegan, Illinois died on Sunday, May10, 2009, at Terrace Nursing Home, Waukegan. Sandy was born July 25, 1950, in Griffith, IN, and was a 1968 graduate of Waukegan High School. She had been employed as an Administrative Assistant at Lake Park Center in Waukegan for 21 years. Sandy was a lifetime Waukegan resident who was adamant about honesty and setting good examples for her grandchildren. Survivors include a daughter, Shelley DeBus of Beach Park, IL; son, Randy Farmen of Lake Bluff, IL; she was devoted to her grandchildren, Heather DeBus, and Derek, Jacob, and Matthew Farmen; also surviving are her mother, Lois Smith of Bass Lake, IN; sisters, Susin Turner of Stafford, TX , and Jan (Paul) Darling of Trevor, WI; brothers, Jon Smith of Waukegan, IL, and Dan (Cindy) Smith of Beach Park, IL; sister, Carol Smith of Bass Lake, IN; and brothers, Michael Smith of Waukegan, IL, and Tom Smith of Bass Lake, IN; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Smith. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14 2009, at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 15, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Don Tremper of Immanuel Church of Gurnee, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
