Robin "Rob" Rissell

Robin A. Rissell (Rob), 78, of Waukegan, IL. passed away on May 1, 2026. 

He was born in Moscow, Idaho on May 24, 1947 to Virgil O. Rissell and Anna Marie Jensen Rissell. He lived in North Chicago, IL. before the family moved to Waukegan in 1959. Rob graduated from Waukegan High School in 1965. He was a 1970 graduate of Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa, where he met his future wife, Roxanne Rhodes. They were married on June 27, 1970 in Winnetka, IL.

Rob also enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970 and served at the Miesau Army Depot and then at the 2nd General Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. He worked in HR in the Personal Office, earning the rank of E5. Following the Army, Rob worked as a machinest at several manufacturing plants until retiring in 2016. From 2018 to 2026 he drove a school bus for Durham School Services in Beach Park, IL.

Rob's hobbies included making amazing, very detailed wooden scratch built construction models. His work was featured in The Toy Trucker Magazine numerous times. He also enjoyed his collection of Bolen's antique garden tractors and was a member and director of the Lake County Farm Heritage Association. He was a member of the former Waukegan Citizens Police Association, as well as a 30+ year member of Zion Emergency Services and Disaster Agency - ESDA.

Throughout his life, Rob was very involved with The Boy Scouts of America, both as a youth and then as a Scout Leader with Troop 50 with his sons. He was also involved with their Cub Scout Pack, Pack 13 at McCall School. Rob was also a member of Little Flower Parish-St, Dismas Church in Waukegan, IL.

Rob was a devoted family man. His family and friends were very important to him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Roxanne; sons - James and daughter-in-law Lynessa Rissell and Jeffrey Rissell. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Jessica Perazzolo and Catie Aiken (Allen Hollen) and Great Grandchildren Jennifer, Aubree, Ayden and Kairi Rose. Rob is also survived by his brother Peter J. Rissell, many cousins, his dog Hilton and his grand-dogs.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 A.M. at Little Flower Parish-St. Dismas Church, 2600 Sunset, Waukegan, IL.
