Robert A. Jones

Robert A. Jones, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away April 28, 2025. He was born December 30, 1937 in Tomah, Wisconsin to parents Arthur and Helen Jones.

Robert grew up in Tomah, Wisconsin. Joining the United States Navy in 1956, at the age of 17. He remained in the Navy for four years as well as two additional years in the reserves. Robert worked at Johnson Motors for many years as a forklift driver and was a member of Yorkhouse United Methodist Church in Waukegan, Illinois. He married his wife, Susan Jones in that same church August 7, 1970.

Robert enjoyed gardening, tending to his flowers, decorating his home for every holiday, and riding motorcycles. A particular favorite of his motorcycles was “Leapin’ Lizard”. Robert was an animal lover. He would spend time outside watching and feeding the birds, spending time with his German Shepard, King, and even giving the neighborhood cats nicknames.

Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Susan Jones; children Brian Jones and Marie (Karl) Jones; and grandchildren, Chloe Sjostedt and Elden Sjostedt.

Robert was preceded in death by his sisters; Shirley Gunter, Mary Lou Jones, Charlotte Mars, Betty Wilson, Bernadette Jones, and baby sister; and parents, Arthur Jones and Helen Jones.

A memorial visitation will be held May 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Road Zion, Illinois.
