Robert E Hoeksema Chief Warrant Officer Robert E. Hoeksema passed into the arms of our heavenly father on Sunday March 6, 2022. Robert (Babe) Hoeksema was born on November 12, 1927 to Lois M. (Whiteside, Hoeksema) Groh and Gladstone Hoeksema. He joined the Navy in 1945 and served in the Army Air Corp and retired from the Army reserve 2002. To many in The Zion/Beach Park Area Bob is remembered as a very successful Businessman, owner and operator of Hoeksema’s Gas Service, (Propane gas Delivery) Hoeksema’s Mini Mart, Hoeksema’s Campers Corner and Gladstone Square Mall. He was Past President of the Beach Park Fire Protection District, Past President of the Beach Park Lions Club and a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons Waukegan Lodge #78. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger; wife, Shirley and wife, Trish. He is survived by his daughter, Robin (Michael) Ruchti; son, Shawn (Lori) Hoeksema; grandchildren, Kristen (Kevin) Hadap, Amanda (Hai) Nguyen, Derrick Hoeksema, Alyssa Hoeksema and Criag Hoeksema; step-son Thedore (Chip) Pulsha; and granddaughter, Tiffany Pulsha; and seven great-grandchildren. And most precious to him of all his loving dog Honey. A graveside committal service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, 1436 Kenosha Road, Zion, IL.
