Rick A. Brewington

Rick A. Brewington Sr., 73, of Grayslake, Illinois, formerly of Lake County, Illinois, passed away on October 2, 2025.

Rick was born on October 14, 1951, in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Alonzo Cowan and Arlene Lois (née Anderson) Brewington Jr. He received his associate’s degree in business from Lake Forest College and worked at TSBAKI as a chain assembler until his retirement.

From the young age of 14, Rick had a passion for music. He loved guitars, singing, and playing country and bluegrass, and enjoyed joining his family in Tennessee to play and sing together. Music was woven into his life, bringing joy to him and those around him. He also loved the outdoors, especially fishing.

Rick loved his family with all his heart and treasured every moment spent with them. His happiest times were when loved ones surrounded him. Known for his witty sense of humor and fun-loving personality, Rick was a true jokester who could always make people smile. Above all, Rick’s love for God guided his life and gave him strength.

Rick is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Sally Brewington; his children, Rick Brewington Jr., Shelley Brewington, Jamie (Carol) Brewington, and Amanda (Jim) Zickovich; his special fur baby, Sofy; grandchildren, Jake, Kenzi, Wade, and Ryan; and two great-grandchildren, Brad and Ryen. He also leaves behind his partner-in-crime, Sandra (née Brewington) (Steve) Burnett; siblings, Donna Mott, Sharon (Garry) Brady, Debbie DeGrand, and Charlie (Sue) Brewington; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers- and sisters-in-law; and dear friends, John and Vivian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alonzo and Arlene Brewington Jr., and brothers-in-law's, Craig Davidson and Dennis Mott.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at The Point Church, 900 Lewis Ave, Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.
