Richard "Flip" Filipowicz

Richard John “Flip” Filipowicz, 77, of Beach Park, Illinois, passed away March 28, 2026 in Wadsworth, Illinois. He was born June 24, 1948 in Waukegan, Illinois to parents Aloysius and Lorraine Filipowicz.

Richard previously lived in Waukegan, Illinois as well as North Chicago, Illinois. He was drafted to join the Army in March of 1968. After leaving the army, Richard married his wife, Dorothy on June 6, 1970 and worked for Abbott Laboratories as a chemical engineer for 30 plus years. Richard loved bike riding, fishing, spending time outdoors and taking road trips.

Richard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Filipowicz; daughters, Diane (Chris) Poehler and Lorie (John) Spiewak; grandchildren, Savannah, Mikayla, Sierra, Ava, Lindsea, Taylor, and Lainey; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Aloysius and Lorraine Filipowicz.
