Richard J. Byrne

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Richard J. Byrne, age 83, on December 22, 2025.

Born on October 3, 1942 in Chicago. Rich was a proud graduate of Fenwick (Oak Park, IL) High School and Northern Illinois University and worked as Salesman after teaching and coaching for the first few years after college. He was known for his optimism, sociability, and love of sports. 

Rich was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Phyllis, and is survived by brothers and sisters Greg (Kathy) Byrne, Pamela (Warren) Fuller, Linda (Gary) Rieboldt, and Jim (Agnes) Byrne; stepchildren Connie (Gil) Glinsmann, Ben Fruehauf, and Danny Fruehauf; grandchildren Emma and Sam Glinsmann; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A Catholic mass celebrating his life will be held at St. Eugene Church on January 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM, preceded by a wake from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church, 7958 W. Foster Avenue, Chicago, IL 60656.
