Raymond Jumisko, 81, of Winthrop Harbor, IL passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026.
Ray was born November 21, 1944 and lived in Winthrop Harbor most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army for 18 months in Germany. He was a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service for 31 years. He was a founding member of the Samuel Schiera American Legion Post 1943 in Winthrop Harbor and a current member of American Legion Zion-Benton Post 865. He was also a long time member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge 667. His hobbies included gardening; visiting county fairs, farms, and tractor shows; and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his brother Leonard, his three daughters Marci (Michael Taets), Melanie (Brian Shaw), and Meridith; and two grandchildren Jacob and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathy and his parents Lucy and Harold Jumisko.
Visitation will be held at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan rd. Zion, IL, on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A secondary visitation will be held at Congdon Funeral Home on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. followed by entombment at Mount Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
Memorial donations to the Winthrop Harbor Firefighters Association have been suggested.
