Nyla "June" Krapf (Taylor) passed through glory's morning gate into the arms of her Lord and Savior on November 19, 2025, at the age of 89.
Born June 18, 1936, to Boyd and Grace Taylor and raised in Zion, she graduated from Zion Benton High School, class of 1954. June began her working career right out of high school at Warwick, then transferred to the Niles, IL, facility until its closure in 1982, then went to work for Cherry Electric, Waukegan, IL, until 1991, when she was bit by the Florida bug and moved to Sarasota. June was an avid golfer, a passion she inherited from her father, and was an all-around sports lover with an adventurous spirit. She was a member of many golf leagues in Illinois and Florida and has the distinguished honor of being the first woman in the history of Shiloh Park Golf Course to have a hole-in-one, acing the 170-yard 7th hole. June and her former husband started Zion's first ski club, The Snow Drifters, hosting ski trips, meetings, and fundraisers for the community and introducing snow skiing to the Zion Benton High Schoolers. She played volleyball at the Park District for Zuckley's Jewelry team for many years. June made many cherished friends along her life's journey. Spending the last 34 years in Sarasota, in her tight-knit community, in her home on, you guessed it, a golf course, overlooking the 11th hole was her dream home and came complete with friendly, loving neighbors that became her Florida family members.
June leaves behind her daughter, Laura (Jerry) Burnett, and grand dog, Shiloh, yes, named after the golf course, along with many treasured nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd and Grace Taylor, and her three siblings, Hal Taylor, Jean Scheve, and Dolores Will.
Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL. Inurnment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Northshore Garden of Memories, in North Chicago, IL.
