Mona Luther

Mona (Ballegooyen) Luther, 94, of Beach Park, IL, went home to be with her Lord on March 20, 2026.

Mona was born on June 25, 1931 in Zion, IL to George and Maie Ballegooyen. She graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School with the class of 1949. She married Roger Luther on March 23,1951 and together they raised two children. Mona was a life-time member of Christ Community Church in Zion.

She is survived by her children, Audrey (Dean) Matteson, and Andy (Pam) Luther; grandchildren, Douglas (Angelica) Matteson, Deann (Curtis) Lewis, Allison Luther and A.J. (Hannah) Luther; great grandchildren, Lucas and Levi Matteson, Titus, Natalie, Haven and Colton Lewis and Evelyn, Juliet and Amelia Luther; siblings Myra (Peter) Sammy, and Barb (Charlie) Lotz; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Charlotte (Don) Gill, Vivian (Paul) Woodman and Dorothy (Earl) Minton; and brother David Ballegooyen.

Mona enjoyed going to the family cottage in Door County, WI and her hobbies included quilting. playing games with the family, reading and crossword puzzles. She was faithful to care for her family and very invested in her grandchildren. Throughout her life, Mona contributed her time to various ministries at her church.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026 from 10:00 until 11:00 at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road Zion, IL. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion. In lieu of flowers, donations to ZEMA have been suggested.
