Miyo Urban

Our beloved "Nana," Miyo T. Urban has left this earth to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was born on July 5, 1932, in Kawasaki, Japan and passed away on October 12, 2025, in Kenosha, WI.

Miyo will be laid to rest with her husband at Fort Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso, TX. After spending her childhood in Japan, she would meet her future husband, Maggin Urban. After marriage, they moved to Fort Riley, KS, where Miyo became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1960. From there they moved to Okinawa, Fort Sam Houston, TX, Fort Hood, TX, back to Okinawa, Fort Sheridan, IL and settled in El Paso, TX. Miyo began working in the cafeteria where her children attended school at Fort Sam Houston. After moving to Fort Sheridan, she started her career with the military exchange services (AAFES) and continued at Fort Bliss Post Exchange earning several Excellence and Achievements Awards. Miyo retired in 1995 after 21 years of distinguished service. Miyo was a proud Army wife, an avid BINGO player, enjoyed tending her garden, lover of chihuahuas, a great cook, and delighted hosting parties and gatherings. She was also a huge fan of Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears.

Miyo was preceded in death by her husband, Maggin, of 47 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Margie (Scott) Wienke of Pleasant Prairie, WI; son, Joseph (Cindy) Urban of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren, Matthew Zorc of Kenosha, WI, Jerod (Brooke) Urban of Omaha, NE, Daniel (Tiffani) Wienke of Kenosha, WIKyle (Cassandra) Wienke of Wadsworth, IL, Tanner (Ashley) Urban of Council Bluffs, IA, Tylar (Cayla Reichelt) Urban of Omaha, NE Andrew (Abby Taylor) Urban of Omaha, NE, and granddaughter, Lauren Wienke of Racine, WI, and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was a loving wife, Mom, and "Nana" who will be missed deeply.

A private service was held in Miyo's honor at Congdon Funeral Home, Zion, IL, followed by a private interment at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX.
