Mavis Anderson

Anderson, Mavis 70, of Zion, IL died peacefully on Friday, June 15, 2012, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL, after a lingering illness. Mavis was born April 24, 1942, in Red Bay, AL. She grew up in Zion, and later in her life was a long time resident of Winchester House in Libertyville. She leaves behind one brother, Oveal Anderson of Waukegan, IL; four sisters, Joyce (Kurt) Schwengler of Cleveland, TN, LaVara (James) Nix, Shirley (Michael) Mintern, and Nelda Nelson, all of Zion, IL; a host of nieces and nephews, and other family members; sisters-in-law, Nell Anderson of Zion, Jewel Rogers of Red Bay, AL, Gay Anderson of Hamilton, AL; and one brother-in-law, Tulon Kemp of Sumner, IL. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents, Vollie and Evia Anderson; brothers, Arvil Rogers, Charles Anderson and Jerry Anderson; sister, Loeize Kemp; and sister-in-law, Regina Anderson. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Winchester House for the wonderful care Mavis received while a resident there. Thank you also to Advocate Conde II Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd" Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m, until the time of service at the funeral home.
