Cover for Mary Lou Rapson's Obituary

Mary Lou Rapson

July 11, 1941 — July 28, 2026

On July 28, Mary Lou Rapson, Age 85, of Zion, Illinois, peacefully closed a long and well-lived chapter of her life.

Mary Lou retired from the Zion Police Department after a career as a Records Clerk.

She lived with a spirit that was both steady and fun-loving – happiest with a fishing pole in her hand, a “dollar” in the slot machines, a bingo card ready to go, or a book she just couldn’t put down.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Waddell, and Anna Gianforte; husbands Herbert Krueger and Robert Rapson; and her son Jeff Krueger.

Her legacy continues through her children Mike (Shelly) Krueger, Rick Krueger, Tom (Michelle) Krueger, and Patty (Mike) Vela; her 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Andy and Mary Schrader; dear friend Ginny Adams and beloved pet pup Jack.

Her life was full of grit, laughter, and love – and those who knew her will carry her stories forward.

A celebration of life to be announced at later date.
