Marvin LeRoy Hafford Jr.

Marvin LeRoy Hafford Jr., 78, passed briefly at home in Winthrop Harbor, Illinois on June 6, 2026.

LeRoy was born on November 18, 1947 in Waukegan, IL, and he grew up in Zion, IL where he graduated at Zion Benton High School class of ‘65. He then married Billie Packman on September 6, 1969. LeRoy worked for Wisco Envelope and his work allowed him to relocate between the Lake County area and Tullahoma, Tennasee a few times. However LeRoy and Billie would eventually settle down in Winthrop Harbor, IL. LeRoy was a member of the North Shore Rods and he enjoyed traveling and spending time outdoors through boating , and camping. He was a fan of NasCar. LeRoy also had a small lawn service he would do for lunch money. LeRoy was a kind hearted but a little rough around the edge, however, He never met a stranger.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Billie Hafford; his little buddy, Gizmo; sisters, Donna (Bill) Stried, Carol Tennyson; nephews, Tom (Kim) Tennyson, Travis (Shanna) Tennyson, Larry Doerr Jr.; several cousins, and special life long friend, Larry Doerr.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin amd Mary Hafford; in-laws, William and Elizabeth Packman.

Visitation will take place Wednesday, June 17, 2026 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a memorial service to follow starting at 7:30 p.m..
