Marilyn Smith

Marilyn Ruth (Lippincott) Smith, 94, of Beach Park, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026. She was born in Zion, Illinois on February 5th, 1932 to George and Esther Lippincott.

For a time, Marilyn worked as a surgical technician. Marilyn enjoyed sharing memories of her experiences in the medical field. She was extremely determined and overcame many health obstacles. Marilyn was a member of the Wisconsin Evangelical Luther Synod (WELS). She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Libertyville, Illinois. Marilyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Marilyn loved her Savior. She would often say “God is love” and “We have one God”. She was loved and adored by everyone that knew her. Marilyn loved spending time with her family. She would often take trips to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan and down to Mississippi to visit family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Marilyn enjoyed animals, country music, cooking, shopping, crocheting, and a variety of other hobbies. 

Marilyn is survived by her children, Doyle (Carolyn) Currington of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; Lisa (Brian) Hallwas of Beach Park Illinois, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Smith; her daugther and son-in-law, George and Marilyn McFarland; 2 sisters, Dolores (Lippincott) Almanzo, and Judith (Lippincott) Rumph; and her parents.
