Margaret Elizabeth Sauvé (O’Brien), 81, of Winthrop Harbor was received into the loving embrace of Jesus on March 6, 2026.
Margaret was born to Albert and Emma (Zwicke) O’Brien and grew up in North Chicago, Illinois where she attended grade school and graduated from North Chicago Community High School. Margaret played the coronet in the high school band for 4 years. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Sauvé in 1964 sharing 51 years of marriage and raising two daughters.
She retired from Abbott Laboratories after 26 years to enjoy her golden years with her husband. They enjoyed many years together working in his fish room, sitting outside on the patio and burning wood in the chiminea and enjoying time together in his greenhouse just to name a few. Her life was led by her faith, her love for her family, her friends and doing so many special things for them. Throughout her life, she was a member of Holy Family Church before becoming Queen of Peace (Most Blessed Trinity Parish). She then joined St. Anastasia Church (Little Flower Parish) and then Our Lady of Humility (St. Brigid Parish). Margaret was very involved in donating to charities that were close to her heart, rummage sales, finding good deals whether it was on groceries, clothing or just something she thought was nice and that someone could use or might need. Her grandkids always went to Gramas first to “shop” for their back to school supplies.
Margaret will be missed tremendously by her daughter Barbie, three grandchildren - Becky, Jeremy (Riane), and Cory as well as three great-grandchildren - Emrys, Einin and Rowan. She will also remembered by her sisters Joyce and Mary Lou, sisters-in-law Terry, Rita, Caron, brother-in-law, Bob (Leslie) and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends that she met throughout her life.
While we grieve her passing, we find comfort and peace knowing that she has been reunited eternally with her husband, Richard (2015), her daughter Carol (2004), her most faithful and bossy puggle Lacy (2013), her parents Albert and Emma, her brothers Edward and Louis, sisters Dorothy and Jacqueline, sister-in-law Darlene, brothers-in-law Leslie, Dennis, Milt and Jack, a nephew Joseph and other family, friends and pets who went before her.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to her doctors and staff at Aurora Medical Center, Aurora ER, ClearSky Rehabilitation Hospital, Advocate Home Health, Advocate Hospice and Winthrop Harbor paramedics for their compassionate care, support, guidance and assistance during Margaret’s final months, days and hours.
“Well done, good and faithful servant." – Matthew 25:23
