Margaret "Toodie" Decker, 83, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at home following a long illness.
She was born June 10, 1925 in Waukegan and has lived in this area all of her life. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Waukegan. In 1991, she retired from Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan and following her retirement, she helped for six years as a volunteer in wound care at the hospital.
Survivors include her children, Doug (Kay) Decker of Pierre, SD, Denny (Debbie) Decker of Winthrop Harbor, and Karen (Dave) Kerley of Winthrop Harbor; seven grandchildren, Dalton Decker, Harry Decker, Tasha (Scott) Buchholtz, Dustin Decker, Amy Decker, Danny Butts, and Cori Butts; two great-grandchildren, Katie and Sam Buchholtz; and her little dog, "Bailey".
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Decker in 1980; one brother, Kenneth Aalund; and her parents, Oscar and Margaret Aalund.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church of Christ, 320 Grand Avenue, Waukegan, IL, with Fr. Tim Ward officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Congregational Church of Christ.
