Lynda Mihaljevic

Lynda L. (Burtt) Mihaljevic passed away quietly in her sleep August 17, 2026.

Lynda was born August 27, 1939, to William and Mildred Burtt, in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan.

Lynda grew up in Brimley, Michigan, and graduated from Brimley High School in 1957. Upon graduation, she went to work at Kinchallo Air Force Base in the Civil Engineering Department, as a secretary. When her first husband was transferred to Fort Sheridan, she got a job there as a secretary and worked her way to Chief Management Employee Relations Division until Fort Sheridan Closed in 1993. Lynda and Mike loved to travel, square dance and round dance. She loved being around family and friends. If there were coffee and cookies to be had she was in.

She is survived by her stepson Richard (Rita) Mihaljevic, stepdaughter Janet Paxton, stepson Alan Mihaljevic; grandchildren Philip (Deb) Paxton, Justine (Rob) Povey, Krystle (Paul) Welch, Nick Mihaljevic, Joe Mihaljevic (Jeff Thorburn), Connor (Taylor) Mihaljevic, Jennifer (Tony) Lamb; great-grandchildren Abigail, Joseph, Blake, Austyn, Lexi, Max and Ronan, Dylan, Ty and Anita; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her twelve siblings; John, Dorothy, Carl, Earl, Ira, Irene, Clayton, Vera, Maxine, Freddy, Larry, and Don; as well as her husband of 34 years, Norman (Mike) Mihaljevic; and grandson, Jason Richardson and Jarrod Mihaljevic.

The family would like to thank the staff at Galloway Senior Living and Guardian Hospice for the great care she received.

Donations can be made to United Memorial Methodist Church in Zion or Cure Alzheimer's.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 2935 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL 60099. Lynda was laid to rest at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL.
