Larry A. Collins, of Zion, Illinois, formerly of Maine, passed away on March 11, 2026 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Larry was born on March 9, 1942, in Mars Hill, Maine. He graduated from Easton High School and received a Master of Business Administration from Hussan University. Larry worked for the U.S. Navy as an accountant until his retirement. He married Muriel Lynn Cruz on December 18, 1982, in Waukegan, Illinois. Larry enjoyed watching and playing golf in his younger years, reading John Grisham's books, watching action movies, and being a member of multiple cribbage card clubs.
He is survived by his wife Muriel "Lynn" Collins; children, Beki Collins, Carrie (Andy) Yeaman, David (Meghan) Collins and Michael (Melissa) Mitchell; grandchildren, Liberty (Mitch) Brunette, Jordan Juga, Isla Yeaman, Freya Yeaman, Callie Collins, Kessler Collins and Kylah Collins; great-grandchildren, Evan and Eli; siblings, Brian Collins, Rhea McKinley, Ericka (Tom) Panek, Rosie (Brian) Sweat and Steve (Cindy) Kinney; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his cribbage family.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Henderson; parents, Inez and Dean Gordon, Wendell and Olivia Kinney and James Collins; siblings, Doug Kinney, Hoss Kinney, and Dinah Petty.
Larry was an outgoing man who walked into a room and greeted people with a hug or a handshake. He was generous to the people in his life with his time and his finances. He was always up for a game, typically cribbage, but also backgammon, checkers, and other strategic games. No matter what game he played he was never going to take it easy on his opponent. He had a fascination with wolves, which could be seen on his shirts or jewelry. He was usually seen wearing his favorite grey brimmed hat. If you knew Larry, you knew he was a character. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
