Kevin Timmons, a beloved family man, passionate coin collector, business owner, avid fisherman, and nuclear engineer entered the gates of heaven on Sunday July 7th at the age of 68.
Born on November 18th 1955 to Yvonne and Michael Timmons in Bellevue, Ohio. He spent his youth in the small town, being known as the hippy with the long hair. He worked hard in the welding industry early on leading him into his nuclear career. Later in life, to fulfill his ambitions for business ownership he obtained his bachelor's degree in business from Northwestern University. Kevin spent most of his professional life as a nuclear engineer, working for PCI Energy Services for over 20 years. As the quality control manager he was known for his meticulous attention to detail and his dedication for safety and excellence. His hard work earned him respect and admiration from his colleagues. He successfully founded, owned and operated Harbor Coin Company. His lifelong dream; accomplished; his store was his favorite place to be, sorting coins and sharing his life experiences and extensive knowledge with customers and his all-family staff. He was well known for being level-headed and humble with a great sense of humor. Kevin got hooked on the fishing pole early on in life and he shared this passion with family and friends. He cherished both the peaceful moments and the thrill of the catch and could be found most weekends with his sons and grandsons on the water. He turned his passion for fishing into a business, starting K&S Charter Service allowing him to share his love and skillfulness with his community. Kevin was relentless in pursuing his dreams and was able to succeed in every challenge he attempted. A lifelong lover of Pink Floyd, Kevin found solace and inspiration in their music. His passion for their songs was a constant presence in his life, reflecting his deep appreciation for their artistry and message. Above all, Kevin was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was the center of his universe, and he took immense pride in their accomplishments. His kindness, wisdom and generosity left a lasting impact on all who knew him,
He was preceded in death by his parents, Yvonne and Michael Timmons and his sister Valerie Carpenter.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Sheila; his three children Andrew, Brian (Stephanie) and Angela; nine grandchildren Kelsey, Christian, Andy, Devan, Jaylah, London, Parker, Pheona and Emmett; and three great-grandchildren, Caden, Isla & Logan; brothers Dewayne and Earl Timmons; special brother Mike Baughn; and hundreds of other great family and friends he met along the way. The impact of his loss is felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion IL, 60099. A second memorial visitation will also be held at Congdon Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 am with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 pm. Procession and Inurnment to immediately follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL.
