Jose Betancourt

Jose Betancourt,92, of Zion, IL passed away surrounded by his loved ones on September 8, 2025 in Zion, IL.

He was born on October 10, 1932 in Puerto Rico to Celestino and Nieves (Rosales) Betancourt. Jose was a self employed truck driver, and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church until he became ill. He loved to go camping, work on his cars, go dancing, and spend time with his family.

Jose is survived by his children, Johnny Betancourt, Cathy Fox, and Brenda Kratovil; grandchildren, Bill (Jeanette) Stratton, Melissa (Jeff) Smith, Josh Fox, Danny Kratovil, Katie Kratovil, and Jonathan Betancourt; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, and one sister.

He was preceded in death by his son, Joey Betancourt; daughter, Linda Stratton; and wife of seventy-one years, Fay Betancourt.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL. Burial will follow at Pineview Cemetery in Beach Park, IL.
