Joanne Kiiskila

Joanne C. Kiiskila Joanne C. Kiiskila, 75, of Waukegan, Ill., died on Monday, February 19, 2007, at home. Joanne was born October 8, 1931, in Waukegan, and was a 1948 graduate of Waukegan Township High School. She was a member of Trinity United Lutheran Church in Waukegan, and was formerly employed by the City of Waukegan Planning Department and then as a legal secretary. Joanne eventually retired from Abbott Laboratories after 17 years of employment. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she enjoyed spending time with her family. Joanne also loved gardening. Survivors include children, Mark (Jacqueline) Kiiskila of Grayslake, IL, and Deborah Shaffer of Zion, IL; grandchildren, Aaron and Nathan Shaffer; and great-grandchildren, Stephenie and Mia Shaffer. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Kiiskila in 1971; brother, Gerald Stenman; and long time friend, Eino Mikkila. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 24, 2007at 10:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Lutheran Church , 658 Grand Ave., Waukegan. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL. Visitation will be Friday, February 23, from 5:00 -8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Trinity United Lutheran Church.
