Janet Duncan

Janet Louise Duncan, 80, of Winthrop Harbor, IL formerly of Ocala, FL, passed away on July 6, 2026 in Winthrop Harbor, IL.

Janet was born on July 31, 1945 the daughter of Doyle and Evelyn (Akins) Martin in Waukegan, IL. Janet graduated from Zion Benton High School, class of 1964. She worked at the Cake Box bakery in Zion (Illinois) until its closing and then went to work at Philmar. In her younger days, she liked to play guitar and sing country and western songs in a bar in Kenosha (Wisconsin). The best way to describe her later years is as someone who loved to work, as someone who listened to gospel music (and sang along!), and as someone who cherished her local neighborhood cats.

She is survived by her son Jerome Young and her sisters, Judy Nunley and Carol (John) Wensch.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Young; parents Doyle and Evelyn Martin; and her siblings: Barbara (Charles) Collins, Dennis Roy Martin, Jerry (Betty) Martin, Glenn (Case) Martin, Fred (Tina) Martin, and Danny (Debbie) Fielder.
