Howard C. Heyer, 93, of Waukegan, was welcomed home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 24, 2025.
Howard was born in Waukegan on July 2, 1931 to Rudolph and Lyda (nee Jahnke) Heyer. He was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waukegan where he faithfully served in many different capacities. He graduated from Waukegan Township High School, Class of 1949. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern University and his Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University. Howard proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged. Howard worked as a Bank Executive and remained in the banking field his entire career. He also founded and directed the Sacred Choir of the Lakes, which performed numerous concerts, recorded several albums, and appeared live on Chicago television on multiple occasions.
Howard is survived by his three children: Frederick (Kristy), Julie, and Jeffery (Jeanette) Heyer; and his three grandchildren: Cassidy, Casey, and Jonathan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Donna (nee Kelly) Heyer.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 620 Grove Ave, Waukegan, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. and burial at NorthShore Garden of Memories in North Chicago.
