Glinda Sue Elrod of Zion, Illinois, passed away on June 5, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Throughout her journey, she was lovingly cared for by her husband, Nelson, who remained faithfully by her side until the end.
Glinda was born on October 9, 1946, in Fulton, Mississippi. She graduated from Zion-Benton High School in 1965 and married her best friend, Nelson Elrod, on October 17, 1970, in Golden, Mississippi.
Glinda was a longtime member of Immanuel Church in Gurnee, Illinois. She was a devoted wife, an incredible mother, and a loving grandmother. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life and guided the way she loved and served others.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Nelson Elrod; her children, Gary (Jennifer) Elrod, Patrick (Pattie) Elrod, and Joanna (Elie Kardoush) Elrod; her grandchildren, Meagan Blue, Ashley (Trey) Springs, Courtney Knight, Savanah Elrod, Emily Elrod, Faith Lynn Elrod, Joshua Elrod, and Grant Elrod; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Addis Orear; her brothers-in-law, Murvin Elrod and Danny Joe (Wanda) Elrod; and her sister-in-law, Jana Orear.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Novis and Nonar Orear; her nine siblings; her beloved nephew, Chris Elrod; and Chris's mother, Jan Elrod.
Glinda's legacy of faith, love, and devotion to her family will continue to be cherished by all who knew her.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday June 13, 2026, from : a.m. until 11: a.m. at Immanuel Church 2300 North Dilley's Road #1002 Gurnee Illinois, 60031 followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at Immanuel Church.
