Emerenciana Munji, age 93, of Winthrop Harbor, passed away peacefully at home on August 23rd.
Emer was born on January 24th in Manila to Maria Sison Viuda de Aurelio and Ignacio Aurelio. She later married Rafael, with whom she shared many years of marriage. Together they built a family filled with love and devotion. She was the proud mother of Ben (Gloria), Nicky, Jojo (Milet) and Malou, and cherished grandmother to Charity, Michele, Lisette, Carlos, Beno, JR, Nina, Lorena, Nick, Jolo, Regina, and Melissa, as well as great-grandmother to 21 beloved great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Arsenia Rilloraza, who resides in the Philippines.
Emer’s strong faith was the foundation of her life and a constant source of strength for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to God and the love she extended to all who knew her.
For 35 years, Emer was employed at CTCA, where her compassion extended far beyond her work. She opened her home to countless patients and their families, offering meals, comfort, and care during their most difficult times. Fiercely dedicated to her work and her family, Emer’s generosity, selflessness, and strength will leave a lasting legacy.
She was preceded in heaven by her husband Rafael, daughter Malou, daughter-in-law Gloria, parents Maria and Ignacio, sister Trining, and brother Alfredo.
A prayer service will be held on Friday, August 29th, between 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Emer’s life.
