Edith Meier

Edith "Edie" Meier (nee Tunis), 84, of Winthrop Harbor, died on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at her home following a long illness. She was born March 1, 1923 in Chicago and was a long-time resident of Winthrop Harbor. Edith was an avid bowler and exercise walker and she enjoyed baking and cooking. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert; children, Susan (Tom) Riley, Pamela Meier, Michael (Rosie) Cahill, and Robert M. (Linda) Meier; grandchildren, Aaron Wiens, Shawn Riley, Derek Riley, and Sara (Casey) Sargeant; one great-granddaughter, Carly Sargeant; and two sisters, Elsie Sturrock and June Schulz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Catherine (nee Williamson) Tunis. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road Zion, with visitation from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Per family request, please omit flowers.
