Dorothy Holzman, 88, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away on May 20, 2026 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She was born September 21, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, and friend. She was a previous resident of Zion, Illinois as well as Chicago, Illinois.
Dorothy married Karl G. Holzman February 1, 1958. They were members of Bonnie Brook Baptist Church in Waukegan, Illinois for many years, where they were very involved.
Dorothy was a talented seamstress. She made many of her children’s clothes, as well as repaired uniforms for Zion Benton High School Football and Basketball programs. She used her talents helping out when she could, designing and sewing the banners that hung in the sanctuary at Bonnie Brook Baptist Church. She made each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren duck towels to keep them warm after a bath. She loved crafting, card making, and was an avid quilter. She passed her talents down through the future generations of her family. Dorothy was also a Zion mail carrier and she served school lunches at Beulah Elementary School in Zion.
She is survived by her children, Karlene (Dale) Nixon, Alison (Alex) Flores, Jennifer (Ken) Richards, and Karl (Carri) Holzman; grandchildren, Jennifer (Dave) Dames, Dale (Kristie) Nixon Jimmy (Morgan) Nixon, Amanda (Justin) Ruesch, Karl (Elizabeth) Flores, Kristen Flores, Daniel Flores, Paul Flores, Matthew Slocum, Bryan (Brooke) Knox, Eric Knox, Kelsey Knox, KJ Richards, Katie (Danny) Rodriguez, Amber, Emily (Seth) Lynn, Ian Holzman, and Maggie Holzman, as well as 29 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death her husband, Karl Holzman; daughter, Lorinda; and parents, Willard and Alice Owen.
She will always be remembered as a loving mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, who impacted many lives of those who knew her.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 28, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Road Zion, Illinois 60099.
