Donna Mae Box

1939 — November 12, 2023

Donna Mae Box, 84, Said “Good night Sweet dreams” to this earthly life and entered into Eternal Peace on November 12, 2023

Donna was born on October 16, 1939 to Ruth and Arthur Marcelain. She was the second born of 5 beautiful daughters. She grew up and attended school in Waukegan, Illinois where she fell in love and married Bobby Box.

Together they raised 5 beautiful children of their own. Donna’s family was her world. She dedicated her life to being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was known as “Ma Box” to many neighborhood kids who knew that her heart, home and refrigerator were always open to them.

When her life took a turn, she held several jobs working tirelessly to support her family. She was a hard worker and a tenacious resourceful woman. Her favorite jobs were the ones where she got to help people. She was warm, generous and would do anything for anyone.

In her spare time Donna enjoyed fishing and camping with her life partner of 30 + years, Larry and Friday nights at Quonset. In her younger years, she loved cooking family dinners with her kids and grandkids, going the beach, roller skating at the Waukegan Roller Rink, cruising in her MGB convertible, racing in Waukegan speedway’s powder puff derby,( where she took the 3

spot!) doing jigsaw puzzles and cheering wildly for her Chicago Cubbies!

Donna had a feisty side and was unapologetically genuine. She fought hard and loved harder. She was brave, strong, fierce, fun, full of light and love. She was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. We were blessed to have her in our lives. She will forever remain in our hearts and will be missed every day.

Donna was welcomed to heaven by the following family members who have gone before her; her parents, Ruth and Arthur Marcelain; husband of 20 plus years, Bobby Box; sister, Bette Kidd; son in law, James Chumbley; grandson, Tyler Henken and her life partner, Larry Vasquez joined her on November 14

She is survived by her sisters;  Arthrene Plumbley, Sondra Lewin and Linda Morphew; children, Denese Pasko, Lynette (Joseph) Upham, Michelle Chumbley, Tracy (David) Henken and Joseph (Ginger) Box; grandchildren, Selina, Britni, Maxx, Nikki, Nate, Justin, Amanda, Michael, Cody, Courtney, Peyton, Zoe and Joey; many great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter; many nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Dec 16
