Donald Roberts

Donald Henry Roberts, 92, of Zion, Illinois, passed away on August 19, 2026 in Zion, Illinois.

Don was a ZeeBee! He graduated from Zion Benton Township High School class of 1953, and served his country in the United States Army. After his service he married his sweetheart, Mary N. Brown on July 3, 1958. He graduated from Lewis College in Joliet, IL, in 1960 with a major in Engineering. Don had a 30-year career at Western Publishing Co. in Racine, Wisconsin before he retired. He worked at the Thunder Hawk golf course after retirement for several years. He was a proud leader of the Zion Moose Club, serving as the governor at the moose. He loved his brothers at the Moose Club. Don was also an active member of the Arch and Anchor Masonic Lodge. His fellow Shriners brought him joy and laughter. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran church in Waukegan, IL.

Upon his retirement he and his wonderful wife Mary embarked on the adventure of a lifetime traveling around the United States in their R.V camper spending time in Alaska they shared their love of life with everyone they met. That love resonates in his family, he is loved and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him and call him a friend. He lives on through each and every one of us. God bless you, Don; we will see you on the other side.

Don's love, memories, laughter, tears and uplifting personality will be in the hearts of his wife, daughters and grandchildren. Don, leaves behind his wonderful wife of 68 years Mary N. Roberts. He is survived by his daughters, Andrea (Scott) and Patricia (Tim); his wonderful grandchildren, Robert (Rachel), Vanessa (Wesley), Donald (Jenna), Lauren (Daniel), and Christopher; and five great-grandchildren: Brianna, Michael, Ryan, Liam, and Shyanne.

He was preceded in death by their son, Eric Henry Roberts; son-in-law David; parents, Harry and Lillian Roberts; brothers, Richard and Douglas.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL. Entombment will be private at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Shriners Children's ,or  Salvation Army.
