Donald Joseph DuPree

Donald Joseph DuPree, 96, of Beach Park, Illinois passed away on July 25, 2025 at home surrounded by family.

Donald was born June 22, 1929 in Manistique, Michigan. His family moved to Zion, IL where he graduated from Zion Benton Township High School. Don possessed a strong work ethic since his youth and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He worked in the grocery business for 70 of his 96 years, from the age of 14 through 84, with time out to serve in the United States Army from 1951 - 53. He enjoyed visiting with his family at home and being among friends at N & T's restaurant. He was a founding member of Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church, where for many years he ushered, cleaned, decorated, set up for funerals, and participated in many other activities. He was well known around the community as a friend to all.

Donald is survived by his children Jim (Kim) DuPree of Beach Park, and Jane (Jon) Oye of Waukegan; grandchildren, Justin, and Jessica DuPree, and Matthew, Abigail, and Andrew Oye.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife Emily; daughter, Anna; parents, Joseph and Isabelle; and siblings, Theodore, Roy, Robert, James, and Dorothy.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025 at St Brigid Parish - Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W Wadsworth Rd, Beach Park, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with mass to follow at 11:00 a.m.
