Diane L. Hickey

January 19, 1945 — June 24, 2024

Zion

Diane L. (McGeoghegan) Hickey,79, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024, at her home in Zion, surrounded by her loving family with the aroma of roses surrounding.

Diane was born on January 19, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of John and Catherine (Quinn) McGeoghegan. She lived a life filled with love and joy. Her hobbies and interests were playing with her furry companions and adventures with loved ones. She enjoyed creating robust firework displays alongside her brother and the quiet peace of creating beautiful crafts with needle and thread, brushes, and paints. She had a special fondness for flowers and found delight in cooking for her family. Diane's days started with the warmth of the sunrise and ended with the fiery farewell of the sunset, accompanied by the refreshing taste of an ice-cold Pepsi.

Her devotion to family was unwavering. In her later years, she resided with her family, allowing her to shower her granddaughter, Olivia, with daily love. Winters were spent seeking refuge from the cold Midwest alongside her sister in sunny Texas. Diane cherished her daughters, dedicating her time and talents to their success. They reciprocated this love wholeheartedly.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen A. Hickey and Kathryn L. Hickey (Troy); granddaughter Olivia Gundy; siblings John McGeoghegan (Mary), Kathryn Zygutis (James), and Virginia Forbes (Frank); and former spouse Robert J. Hickey.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, John and Catherine McGeoghegan.

She will be remembered for her loving nature, kindness, and grace.
