David Ortiz

David Eduardo Ortiz, 63, of Zion, Illinois, passed away on June 2, 2026.

David was born on September 16, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois. He married the love of his life, Jeannette Ortiz, on December 18, 1992. David dedicated many years of his career to the shipping industry, retiring as a Shipping Supervisor.David was a hardworking man who devoted his life to providing for his family. He was known for his contagious smile, quick sense of humor, and ability to make those around him laugh. He loved cooking and grilling, especially for family gatherings, where he could share stories, laughter, and cherished memories with those he loved most. He was especially known for his famous arrachera on the grill, a meal that brought family and friends together and reflected his love for sharing good food and good company.

David will be deeply missed by his two sons, David (fiancée Jeanette) Ortiz and Nicholas (fiancée Kaylyn) Ortiz; his grandchildren, Jayden Ortiz, David Ortiz III, and Liam Ortiz; his siblings, Ruben Ortiz, Irma Guadarrama, Erasmo Villarreal Jr., and Esmeralda Villarreal; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Ortiz; his mother, Erlinda Villarreal; his father, Erasmo Villarreal; and his brother, Ramon Ortiz.Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home. A Second visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. also at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL.
