David P. McCarraher

July 20, 1933 — February 5, 2026

David Pierce McCarraher, 92, passed away on February 5, 2025, in Zion, Illinois. He was born on July 20, 1933, in Pottstown, Pennsylvania.

Dave spent the final years of his life at The Sheridan at Green Oaks (2018–2025). Prior to that, he lived in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, for four decades (1978–2018), after relocating his family from King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, where they had lived for 13 years.

In 1956, Dave earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Public Administration from Temple University in Philadelphia. That same year, he began serving in the United States Navy, remaining on active duty until transferring to the Naval Reserves in 1962. On February 8, 1958, he married Doris Clark at J.R. Miller Presbyterian Church in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, a partnership that would span 67 years.

Dave built a long and successful career in sales. He worked for Lee’s and Sons from 1959 to 1971, and then for Milliken, where he held roles in sales and sales management from 1971 until his retirement in 2000.

A lifelong Episcopalian, Dave was a devoted and active member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Glen Ellyn. His faith was a steady presence throughout his life.

He loved traveling, especially to sunny destinations with beautiful beaches, and was an avid golfer. He enjoyed watching golf, football, and baseball, and was a loyal fan of both the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles. A student of history, he took particular interest in the Civil War. Understanding the value of preserving memories, Dave was rarely without a camera, capturing moments with family and friends.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Clark McCarraher; his daughters, Linda Doherty (Thomas) and Lesley Dean (Robert); and his granddaughters, Shannon Doherty (Kay McMonigal), Cassidy Duffy, and Caileigh McCarraher Duffy.
