Daniel J. Gitlis

Daniel J. Gitlis, 69, of Skokie, IL, passed away on May 16, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hinda and Gerald Gitlis, and his brother, Scott. Daniel is survived by his daughter, Jaclyn; his sister, Karyn; and his brother, Mark.

For many years, Daniel owned and operated Metro Express, a messenger service in Chicago.

Daniel loved to read, often with a cup of coffee nearby. He had a deep appreciation for art and antiques, and his love of rock and roll music was reflected in the guitar he played by ear. Though he could not read music himself, he admired those who could. Daniel never tired of telling the same dad jokes, bringing laughter (and plenty of eye rolls and groans) to those around him.

A private memorial service was held in June.
