Charles Roberts, born on January 9, 1950, in East St. Louis, Illinois, passed away on July 11, 2026, at Journey Care Hospice in Barrington, Illinois.
Charles married Cathy, his devoted partner, in Wadena, Minnesota, at St. Ann's Church. Their bond was the cornerstone of a family that grew to include their four wonderful sons. He was especially proud of his role as a grandfather, holding dear the special relationships he built with his eight grandchildren and great grandson.
A lifetime learner, Charles possessed an innate curiosity and continually sought new skills. He held an associate degree and applied his talents across many pursuits, including professional photography and an avid interest in remote-controlled toys, airplanes, boats, and cars. His passion for creativity extended to leather and woodworking, crafts that brought him both personal satisfaction and joy to those around him.
Charles served his country honorably, dedicating 24 years to the United States Navy before retiring as Senior Chief Fire control petty officer. His military career was a testament to his commitment, strength of character, and integrity. Following his service, Charles remained devoted to his faith as an active member of Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus at OLH, where he formed lasting friendships.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife Cathy L. Roberts; sons, Chad C. Roberts, Corey F. Roberts, Casey J. Roberts, and Charles E.
