Carolyn Germer

Carolyn F. Germer, 90, of Beach Park, Illinois formerly of Waukegan, IL, passed away on March 19, 2026 in Zion, IL.

Carolyn was born on July 23, 1935, in Council Bluffs, IA, the daughter of Lloyd and Alice (Richardson) Cogley. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, and shortly after married Jerry Germer on April 11, 1959 in Council Bluffs, IA, before residing to Waukegan. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, making canned goods, embroidery, being a Girl Scout leader, and volunteering in the Waukegan school district.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Bade and Shari (Ray) Martin; grandchildren, Eric (Jacqueline) Bade, Sara (Charles) Hallstrom and Karli (Chris) Franz; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie Bade, Bruce Hallstrom, and Alexandria Bade; and nephew, Steve (Fe) Cogley.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Germer; her parents; brother Donald (Mary Ann) Cogley; son-in-law, Dennis Bade; and niece, Diane Peterson.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Zion, IL.
