Bruce Senter Sr.

Bruce Edward Senter Sr., 84, of Zion, Illinois, passed away at home on February 5, 2026.

Bruce was born September 9, 1941 in Detroit, Michigan to Nathan and Jennie (Booth) Senter. There he grew up, graduated high school, and joined the United States Navy before meeting and marrying Dorothy Francis Cantrell on January 20, 1962. They later moved to Tower, MI before settling down in Zion, IL. He found work at Whiteman & Fry and later returned to working in the Navy as a civilian at the Great Lakes Naval Station. After separating from Dorothy, Bruce married Patricia Ann Hiser on June 4, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was a member of Grace Missionary Church in Zion, IL and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wards of the U.S..

Bruce Edward Senter Sr. will be most remembered for loving his family deeply. You could always see his love in the quiet little things and moments. His love was in spending time near his wife, Patricia, passing on his wide array of skills to his sons, and ensuring his family always had what they needed (even if they didn’t know they needed it). He will be missed as a loving husband, patient father, wise teacher, playful grandpa, and great man.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Patricia Senter; children, Steve Senter, Timothy Senter, Bruce (Lisa) Senter Jr., John (Angela) Senter; step-children: Lyda Nichols, Richard Hiser; grandchildren, Patrick Senter, John Matthew Senter II, Devon Daniels, Shaun Senter, Kelly Keena, Michaela Senter, Bruce Senter III, Jeff Oedez; step-grandchildren, Alexandria Nichols, Tabatha Nichols, Heaven Hiser, Haley Hiser; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Nate Senter Sr.; mother Jennie Senter; brothers, Nate Senter Jr., Bob Senter; and sister, Beverly.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 10:30 a.m., until the funeral service starting at 12:00 p.m., at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd, Zion, IL 60099, followed directly by his entombment at Northshore Garden of Memories, 1801 Green Bay Rd, North Chicago, IL 60064.
