Beverly J. Thomas

Beverly J. Lemeron-Thomas (Moosee), age 90, went home to be with the Lord on August 29, 2026.

She was born on September 28, 1935, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to the late Bernard Lemeron and Mabel Stanley-Rossiter. She resided in Waukegan, Illinois, for many years and later in Beach Park, Illinois. She attended Holy Child High School for three years before graduating from Waukegan High School in 1953. She later received her Associate in Arts degree in Business from the College of Lake County.

Beverly was a loving, giving, and devoted mother whose heart extended far beyond her own family. She opened not only her heart but also her home to everyone. As her children were growing up, their friends were always welcome in her home, and she became a second mother to many of them. She had a special way of making everyone feel loved, cared for, and part of the family.

Beverly shared 63 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Leroy Thomas (Frog), who survives her. They met at their place of employment at Lake Forest News Agency and were married at St. Dismas Church, where they attended for many years. Together, they built a life filled with family, laughter, love, and countless memories. Leroy took in her two children and helped raise them as his own. Beverly spent many years as a homemaker, and, as her family would happily tell you, Beverly would definitely let you know, “I am the Boss” of the household.

From an early age, Beverly had an adventurous and creative spirit. She enjoyed horseback riding, baton twirling, playing the organ, dance clubs, and roller skating. That creativity stayed with her throughout her life. She loved cooking, crafts, and decorating and was exceptionally artistic. She took great pride in decorating her own home and creating beautiful things with her hands. She lovingly made all of her children’s costumes for their dance recitals, putting her artistic talents and attention to detail into every stitch.

Beverly also loved family adventures. Some of the family’s most treasured memories were made during road trips across the United States in their station wagon. Those journeys brought the family together and created stories and memories that would last a lifetime.

She especially enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings over the years. Her home was a place where family and friends came together, meals were shared, traditions were celebrated, and memories were made. She loved having everyone around her and took great joy in making the holidays special.

Beverly had a lifelong love for animals. In her later years, she became very active in the Greater Milwaukee Brittany Club and spent many years showing her beloved dog, Molly. Beverly lovingly trained and showed Molly, and through her dedication, Molly became a champion show dog. Their time together brought Beverly great joy, wonderful friendships, and countless cherished memories. Molly held a very special place in Beverly’s heart and was a cherished part of her life.

Beverly is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leroy Thomas; her daughters, Cheryl Thomas-Villarreal (Godfrey Geissberger) and Colleen Thomas; her loving niece, Patricia Walton-Martin (Arthur Villarreal), whom she raised as a daughter; her son-in-law, Donald Flowers; and her grandchildren, Matthew Villarreal and Jeremy Villarreal.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Lemeron and Mabel Stanley-Rossiter; her sister, Sharon Lemeron-Walton; her daughter, Victoria George-Flowers; and her son, Leslie George III.

Beverly leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, creativity, family traditions, and memories. Her family will forever cherish those memories. She was deeply loved and will be deeply missed. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Services

Private services for Beverly J. Thomas will be held on September 3 at Congdon Funeral Home with immediate family.

A graveside burial will be held on September 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Ascension Cemetery. Family and friends who would like to join us in honoring Beverly’s life are welcome to attend.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements have been finalized.
