Beverly J. McPherson

Beverly Jean McPherson, 88, of Beach Park, Illinois passed away June 11, 2025. She was born July 9, 1936, in Green Bay, Wisconsin to parents Darlene and Bernard Freward.

Beverly graduated from Waukegan High School and worked for Abbott Laboratories for many years before retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Winthrop Harbor where she taught Sunday School. Beverly was an active member of various charities, devoting much of her time at the Linus Project Foundation sewing blankets for various hospitals for children with severe health conditions.

Beverly loved and devoted much of her time to helping others. Her greatest passion was being surrounded by her children and numerous grandchildren. Her friends were truly a blessing to her, especially Dee and Linda Morris, whom she has been friends with since they were five years old.

Beverly is survived by her children, Constance DeSoto, Timothy Kane, Ronald Slocum, Steven (Beverly) Slocum, and Carole (Robert) Bounds; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; sister, Sandra Heinz; brothers, Jeffery Colp and Richard Colp; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James McPherson; son, Anthony Dean DeSoto; parents, Darlene and Bernard Freward; sisters, Bonnie Hall and Carole Ladwig; and brothers, Randy Colp and Steven Colp.

A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Road Zion, Illinois.
