Barbara Hendrickson

March 11, 1960 — August 26, 2025

Barbara Jean Hendrickson (nee Grubbs), 65, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Born in Waukegan on March 11, 1960, to the late William and Avonell (Stollings) Grubbs.

Barb was a dedicated mother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her children and family were precious to her, and it showed. Her love was always present, always near, and unmistakably deep. Her heart was big, full, and boundless, overflowing with the kind of love that made you feel cherished and important.

Her love was a gift – a constant source of comfort and strength that will continue to endure long after she’s gone. As we remember our time with her, we will carry her love in our hearts, honoring the way she touched our lives with kindness, patience, and devotion.

Barb had a deep and strong relationship with our Lord, Jesus Christ. She often had conversations with family members, giving words of encouragement largely based upon her knowledge of scripture. She enjoyed singing Christian songs and listening to sermons. She also loved Motown and classic rock; going to concerts was one of her favorite pastimes.

Barb was a nurse for many years, taking care of a number of elderly patients. Being the dynamic and resilient woman that she was, later in life she obtained a CDL. She told many stories of how she enjoyed her travels when she drove semi, seeing most of the United States. She greatly enjoyed crocheting, reading the Bible, daily walks early in the morning, binge watching her favorite shows, and baking sweets.

She will be dearly missed by her children, siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Barb is survived by her children, Jason (Julia) Grubbs of Kenosha, WI; Thomas Hendrickson Jr. (Inger) of Caledonia, WI; Mary Muske (James) of MN; Kersten Grubbs of Kenosha, WI; sisters, Joy Grubbs, Winthrop Harbor, IL; Charlotte Salica (Tim) of Kenosha WI; Janet Vanderpool (John) of Kenosha WI; Kimberly Jarrett, Kenosha WI; brother, William Grubbs Jr (Michelle) of Kenosha WI, as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceding in death are her parents, Avonell Grubbs nee Stollings, father, William Grubbs Sr, sisters, Judy Ocenosek and Bessie Denis, and nephew, William Lindner.
