Arthur (Art) Paul Hoyt, 66, of Zion, Illinois passed away on November 15th, 2025. He was born in Waukegan, Illinois to parents James and Lorna Hoyt. Graduating from ZBTHS he started his career at Zion Benton Public Works for the water department where he developed a strong work ethic making his way up to foreman and eventually running the show as supervisor. He was a dedicated employee for 44 years until retirement. A loving husband to brenda of 44 years and sharing a life together for 49 years. He was a Pillar of strength and support for his family. Together they raised 3 children Tonya, Amanda and Ryan. He was a devoted father and was always there to offer guidance, love and a hearty laugh. He had many hobbies such as hunting, camping, traveling, and spending time with family. He loved jamming out to music and smoking an occasional cigar. He taught himself how to play the banjo, making wine, smoking meats and making sausage and many other things. Art was a die hard packer fan and loved watching the game with his family and friends. He was a member of the Zion Benton Moose Lodge for many many years. Art was highly respected amongst his peers and community. You couldn't go anywhere without him knowing someone. He is survived by his loving wife brenda and his children Tonya (Roe), Amanda and Ryan. His grandchildren Dylan, Donovan, Morgan and Jameson and his fur best friend and grand dog Boomer. He is also survived by his siblings Audrey, Alan, Arnold and Andrew as well as many nieces nephews family and friends who Will miss him dearly. He is proceeded in death by his father James, his mother Lorna, brother Arland and sister Annette. A funeral service to celebrate Art's life will be held at Congdon Funeral Home, located at 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, Illinois 60099 Tuesday November 25, 2025 at 11:30 am. Visitation will be held from 10:00 -11:30 am. Burial will proceed immediately after and will be held at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Luncheon will be held at the Zion Benton Moose Lodge.
