Artemio Mendez Andrade

Artemio Andrade Méndez, 81, of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away on September 17th, 2025, surrounded by his wife. Artemio was born on October 20th, 1943, in El Arenal de las Ollas, México. He was married to his wife, Juana Manuela Vara-Millán de Méndez, for 55 years, from Ixtapan de la Sal, México. Artemio dedicated his life’s work to agriculture and had a great love for gardening, singing, and playing his instruments. Artemio was a man of God and attended Latin Pentecostal Church of God in Waukegan, IL.

Artemio is survived by his wife, Juana Manuela Vara-Millán de Méndez, and their children: Alfredo Méndez and his wife Vicky Montes Oca de Méndez; Arturo Méndez and his wife Araceli Martínez de Méndez; Marco Antonio Méndez and his wife Estela Campuzano de Méndez; María Magdalena Méndez Vara; Valentín Méndez and his wife Josefina Vara Méndez; Bimael Méndez and his wife Marisol Vara Méndez; Fermín Méndez; and Prócoro Méndez. His grandchildren: Lucero Méndez, Arturo Méndez, Isaí Méndez, Sheccid X. Hernández, Neftalí Méndez, Elí G. Hernández, Juan S. Méndez, Xóchilt J. Hernández, Jasmín Méndez, Jacqueline Méndez, Sheila I. Hernández, Sarai Méndez, and Marko Anthony Méndez; and his two great-grandchildren, Azariah Y. Carleton and Isaí’s child, expected to be born soon. His siblings: Carlos Méndez, Ángel Méndez, Gloria Méndez, Antolín Méndez, and Mercedes Méndez. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Román and Félix Andrade Méndez; siblings Fermín Méndez, Rubén Méndez, Teodoro Méndez, Martín Méndez, José Méndez, Celia Méndez, and Lucía Méndez; and nephew James Vara Fuerte. 

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at 7:00 p.m. at Latin Pentecostal Church of God, 656 Powell Ave., Waukegan, IL 60085. Burial will be on Thursday, September 25th, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL 60099.
